Driver dies after car explodes; Firecrackers allegedly found in car

Horrifying photos of a car in bits while 3 other cars that were badly burnt in Kampung Sireh, Kota Bharu, has been going viral. The fire rescue team believes that the explosion was caused by firecrackers stored in the car as bits of firecracker packaging were found at the scene.

Harian Metro reports the incident happened at 5.30 pm on 21 May 2021. Five other cars were caught in the explosion while the windows of the nearby mosque shattered due to the force of it.

At the time of writing, only one casualty has been reported. According to the Malay daily, the driver of the Iswara’s body has reportedly exploded into pieces along with the car. Harian Metro has yet to report on how many others were injured in the incident.
