All-new 2022 Honda Civic e:HEV hybrid, Type R models to debut in 2022

It'll be a double dose of the all-new 2022Honda Civic (FE) next year, as e:HEV (hybrid) variants and the Civic Type R model are due to be launched then.
Theoretically, the e:HEV powertrain should be like what's in our Honda City RS' i-MMD system. It's a dual-motor setup, with its electric motor driving the car most of the time.
The petrol engine - a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder in the City RS - only kicks in to drive the generator to provide additional power for the traction motor, or drive the wheels directly during high-speed cruising.
The 'regular Civic' in this sense refers to the Civic Hatchback - recall that the sedan has been discontinued in Japan. Whether or not the model will be reintroduced is unclear at the moment.
Regardless, sources mention that the regular Civic will be powered by a 1.5-litre, VTEC turbo mill, with CVT or 6-speed manual transmission options.
Also, it's said that dealers have been ordering display units already and production is due to begin in June. The model is expected to be launched to Japanese customers in August.
Closer to home, Singaporean customers are due to get theirs in October and as you may have guessed, it's pricier than the outgoing Civic FC.
Although teased for a Malaysian debut this year, there has been no news yet about its launch - which means the 10th-generation Civic FC soldiers on for a while more.
