Those looking to purchase a brand-new 2021 Proton X70 should pay more attention, as Proton is set to launch a new SE variant of the X70 real soon.

Compared to the regular X70, the upcoming SE is draped in Ocean Blue – the same shade of colour found on the Proton X50. An SE emblem can also be seen in this rear-view shot.

But it’s not just that, as an earlier spyshot gave us a good look at the SE’s 19-inch wheels, which looks like they were lifted off the not-sold-in-Malaysia Geely Boyue Pro.

The Ajerul also mentioned that the upcoming X70 SE will receive unique interior trim, including new SE-branded carpet mats and black Nappa leather upholstery. The current Premium and Premium X variants of the X70 get brown Nappa leather seats.

Apart from these changes, the rest of the Proton X70 should remain identical, down to its turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Proton X70 SE won’t be alone, as Proton will also be introducing the facelifted Proton Iriz and Proton Persona later this year as well. Busy year indeed for Proton.
