As you know, the Lexus LX is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser. Both cars are made at Toyota Auto Body’s Yoshiwara plant (additionally, Land Cruiser is also made at the Tahara plant, LX not anymore). So when the Land Cruiser 200 - on which the outgoing Lexus LX 570 is based, is replaced by an all-new 300 model - it won’t be too long before an all-new Lexus LX debuts.
At the recently concluded global debut of the much smaller, all-new 2022 Lexus NX (which will soon be a lot more expensive for us Malaysians), Hiroo Togashi, General Manager for Lexus Global Brand Management ended the livestream by pointing to an undisclosed SUV and saying “We have another product reveal coming later this year, who knows we may even have a different kind of surprise as well.”
From the silhouette of the covered car, it’s obvious that the next Lexus model is a much bigger SUV, with a very upright grille and chunky C-pillars, all hallmarks of the Lexus LX.
Lexus still lists the LX 570 as on sale (including Lexus Malaysia) but Wapcar.my understands that Japanese dealers are no longer taking orders for it, which suggests than an all-new model is on the way.
Some publications have also mentioned that the 570 designation could be changed to 600, while diesel-powered variants (currently badged as 450d), will wear the 500d designation.
A hybrid, 750h is also rumoured to be introduced later in its model life.
In Malaysia, the outgoing Lexus LX 570 sells for RM 1,225,883. There’s also an LX 570 Sport, which adds styling accessories plus a Front Performance Damper for better handling. It sells for RM 1,281,938. Prices are valid only until 31-December 2021.
