In the age where automatic transmissions have proven themselves to be faster than their manual counterparts, the one last argument enthusiasts have against it is driver involvement.
How a manual car performs, rely mostly on the driver’s skills—and that, to some, is a rewarding experience that an automatic transmission simply could not offer.
With that being said, if you’re that person who enjoys the fun and challenges of a manual transmission car, here are five used manual cars (that are not too old) that you can still buy in Malaysia.
Here's a fun car that doesn’t break the bank. The Proton Satria Neo CPS offers great fun with its fantastic handling characteristics. It may lack some performance bits that the Satria Neo R3 has, but it's still no slouch.
Should you feel itchy for more performance, the Satria Neo has plenty of aftermarket support.
If space and practicality are the least important, why not the Honda CR-Z? The CR-Z might not go as fast as it looks, and it’s not as efficient as other hybrids.
But who cares? It’s still fun to drive and it looks great doing it. And it has a lot of potential in the performance department.
The fastest, hottest one in the list, the Renault Megane RS will set your hair on fire with its performance. After all, it was once the fastest front-wheel drive car to lap around the Nurburgring.
Despite being a decade old, it still looks fresh. And did I mention it was once a Nurburgring record holder?
Here’s another fun car that doesn’t break the bank. While it doesn’t offer as much performance as the others in this list, it’s still a great car to drive thanks to its confident chassis and suspension setup.
It’s quite rare to find one in the used car market, but should you come across one, it’s a sign to get it.
Price: RM25,000 - RM30,000
Honourable mentions:
Proton Inspira 1.8 Executive
If you don’t mind (or you're strong enough) to handle the Internet’s hate against it for being a “fake Lancer”, the Proton Inspira is a great option to consider.
While it’s not as fun as the others mentioned, it makes up for it with comfort, practicality, and reliability.
