Geely has announced prices of the 2021 Geely Xingyue L in China. Prices are actually lower than the estimated pre-sale prices back in May.
Prices in China start from CNY 137,200 (~RM 90k) for the lower output variants, while the more powerful variants are priced from CNY 175,200 (~RM 115k).
In China, all variants of the Geely Xingyue L are powered by Volvo’s 2.0-litre, non-hybrid Drive-E turbocharged petrol engine, with varying output levels.

The first is a 218 PS, 325 Nm version, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic, while the second is a 238 PS, 350 Nm version. The latter is mated to an eight-speed torque converter automatic.
Considering that the Xingyue L is higher up in Geely’s SUV hierarchy, it gets an interior to go with it. The luxurious interior can be had with several dual-tone colour combinations, while the dashboard gets a triple screen system – the latter two screens are for infotainment duties.

The Geely Xingyue L is also 5G-enabled and features firmware over-the-air (FOTA) upgrades. Other niceties include a CN95 air filtration system, ionizer, 72-colour ambient lighting, Bose sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.
As with other recent Geely models, the 2021 Xingyue L gets a Level 2 semi-autonomous ADAS suite. But that’s not all – the 2021 Xingyue L is also fitted with an automated Valet Function. Within a 200-metre area (up to 1 km distance), the Xingyue L is able to find parking spots and park itself without a driver.

Editor’s comment:
Don’t hold your breath for the arrival of the Geely Xingyue L in Malaysia. The next Geely product to be rebadged into a Proton is the Geely Haoyue – a model many believe would be called the Proton X90.
While pricing arrangement of the Geely Haoyue / Proton X90 will likely mirror the Proton X50 and Proton X70, in which prices of the top-spec Proton X50 overlaps the low-spec Proton X70, the same cannot be said for the more upmarket Geely Xingyue L.

With prices of the Geely Xingyue L topping out at CNY 175,200, it puts it as one of Geely’s most expensive models, second to the regular Xingyue. Factoring in the cost to develop a right-hand drive version, as well as localizing the Milky Way infotainment system, it will bump the price up rather significantly, likely touching the RM 150k mark.
Although Proton has improved a lot since Geely came on board, it is doubtful that they can sustain a product priced above RM 150,000.
