In a recent question-and-answer (Q&A) session with ACO Tech, the company behind the Proton X50 and Proton X70’s GKUI infotainment system revealed that they have plans to introduce a new music streaming service.
According to the company, said music streaming service’s name start with the letter “S”, hinting that it could be Spotify. Granted, the other music streaming service could also be Syok, a local streaming service by Astro.

On the topic of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support on the GKUI system, ACO Tech replied by saying, “Over the last two years, most carmakers are trying to upgrade the entertainment box in the car console. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are the solution enhanced from the mobile phone ecosystem. We believe we are already in the next technology of car entertainment and people lifestyle.”
In other words, ACO Tech has no plans to offer these modern-day solutions.

It is the same for Google Maps and Waze. While ACO Tech said that these applications are owned by Google and are not open for any new collaboration with any carmakers, there are carmakers that have embedded these software into their cars, independent of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
One such carmaker is General Motors (GM). The company has included Google Maps and Google Assistant into several Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC models.
