Earlier this week, we published spyshots of a mysterious SUV that was spotted in Korea. We shared three theories on what the SUV could be with one of them being the upcoming Hyundai Stargazer.
Though we previously published a rough sketch of what the Stargazer could look like, we came across a reimagining of Hyundai’s upcoming MPV courtesy of rafimuamar40 (Rafi M R) on Instagram.
The rendering combines the rear design of the Europe-only Hyundai Bayon with an overall look that resembled the Mitsubishi Xpander. According to the renderer, the rear bumper is taken from a 2018 Hyundai Sonata with some slight tweaks.
As for why the Mitsubishi Xpander resemblance, Rafi inferred that the mysterious SUV in the spyshot looked similar to the Three Diamond’s design.
Side note: Hyundai and Mitsubishi have collaborated in the past with models like the Santamo and H-1 based on the Chariot and Space Gear respectively. However, that partnership ended many years ago.
Besides, the renderer also imagines the Stargazer to have good visibility with a generous amount of glass akin to the Nissan Serena and Toyota Voxy. However, as this is merely a render, it won’t be as accurate as the actual production model.
The Stargazer is planned to be unveiled in late-2021 at the earliest. It is rumoured to be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm. Aside from Indonesia, the 7-seater is also expected to arrive in Malaysia where it will face against the next-gen Perodua Alza among others.
