This is the electric GLB – 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB detailed

Alongside the EQE and EQG, Mercedes-Benz has also debuted the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB – the electrified seven-seater (5+2 seater) GLB-Class.

Set to launch in Europe and China later this year, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB will be manufactured at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Kecskemét, Hungary for the global market, and at the Beijing Benz Automotive Company (BBAC) plant for China.

Mercedes-Benz detailed two variants of the EQB – the EQB 300 and the EQB 350. Both variants feature a twin-motor all-wheel drive config, but with varying output levels.

The EQB 300 offers 228 PS and 390 Nm, while completing the century sprint in 8 seconds. As for the EQB 350, it does 292 PS and 520 Nm. The higher power output means that the EQB 350 is able to complete the same century sprint in just 6.2 seconds. Both SUVs are limited to 160 km/h.

In terms of battery capacity, both the EQB 300 and EQB 350 offer a 66.5 kWh battery located underneath the passenger compartment in the middle of the vehicle. Despite their varying output levels, Mercedes-Benz said both variants offer a 419 km range under the WLTP test cycle.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB can be charged up to 11 kW using the on-board charger. The new EV SUV can also utilize direct current (DC) charging, with a maximum charging rate of up to 100 kW. With DC charging, it takes roughly 32 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

Like the regular petrol-powered Mercedes-Benz GLB, the EQB is also equipped to sit seven. In fact, the cabin largely mirrors that of the GLB, with the only separation being accent colours on the air-conditioning vents, seats, and carpets.

Mercedes-Benz has also done extensive measures to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). Engineers have fitted a foam mat around the electric motors to reduce drivetrain noise, while acoustic foams are inserted into many carriers during body-in-white construction.

Over the next coming months, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB will be accompanied by other EQ-branded models, including the EQE and EQG.
