Hydrogen the future? Saudi Arabia aims to become world's biggest hydrogen supplier 01

In a report by Reuters, the Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia – Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman al-Saud – said that the country aims to be the biggest supplier of hydrogen.

As the world focuses on reducing carbon footprint and shift towards renewable energy sources, the Saudi minister added that the country plans to export in the region of 4 million tons of hydrogen by 2030.

In a TV interview with Asharq TV channel, Prince Abdulaziz said that investing in renewable energy does not mean oil investment will be stopped. “The goal is to reduce emissions, not cutting to use oil,” he said.

“There is no contradiction between investing in energy and caring for the climate. The world cannot live on a single source of energy, or even on a few sources, but the world needs all the energy sources available,” he added.
