Friction isn’t good. Chafing can kill the smoothness of the surface; be it metallic or organic. That’s why good engine oil is essential to optimise the performance of the motor. Honda Malaysia has taken the next step in that with the introduction of a new engine oil to its line-up the SP Grade, offering greater engine protection for Honda car owners.
Continuously improving aftersales is an important aspect in retaining customers. Honda Malaysia recognises that and constantly reviews and upgrades its service products such as engine oils.

The newest SP Grade engine oil meets the needs of today’s vehicle engines whilst delivering stable performance, better fuel economy and prolonging its lifespan.
This new grade replaces the current SN grade of oils except for the fully synthetic SN 0W-30 that’s used in high-performance cars such as the Civic Type-R.

Honda Research & Development has approved the new SP grade of oils to be used in most petrol and turbocharged engines; meaning the entire line-up of Honda models now.
It meets the latest standards issued by the American Petroleum Institute (API) as well as enhances protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI); an abnormal combustion phenomenon that can cause significant damage to the engine.

Furthermore, the SP grade oils come with a timing chain wear protection to minimise timing chain elongation. Additionally, it delivers improved high-temperature deposit protection for pistons and turbochargers with better sludge and varnish control, valve train and intake lifter wear protection, higher oxidation stability as well as emission control system protection.
