The current charging infrastructure; or lack of one, is among the hindrances slowing down electric vehicle adoption here. Being among the pioneers of electromobility in the country, BMW Group Malaysia has gone the extra mile in charging up the local charging network and has now added a further three new BMW i Charging facilities in Penang with dealer Tian Siang Premium Auto.

Now those from out of town can stuff your tummies to your hearts’ content with great food and not worry about getting home in your electric vehicle with the addition of these facilities in one of the best islands in the world to retire on.

Beneficiaries of the charging facilities are the The Prestige Hotel in George Town and the Light Hotel in Seberang Jaya.

“The three new BMW i Charging facilities are added to the ten existing facilities we introduced previously across Ipoh and Penang. As we continue to grow the charging infrastructure in these states, we look forward to strengthening the confidence in Electrified Mobility – to which we have seen progressively grow in the past few years,” said Tan Ka Kin, Dealer Principal of Tian Siang Premium Auto.

Prior to this, Tian Siang Premium Auto has integrated the i Charging facilities in Ipoh; most notably at the Weil Hotel and the Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat. As for the Pearl of the Orient, the three new facilities aren’t the first for the state as the dealer has had them installed at Gurney Paragon Mall on the island and the Iconic Hotel on the mainland.

By introducing charging facilities at strategic tourism accommodations, the move does go the distance in alleviating range anxiety; especially for EV owners that look forward to taking their vehicles on long distance trips.

All in, the move is perfectly aligned with BMW Group Malaysia’s commitment to accelerate the adoption of electromobility in the country; itself part of the country’s bigger picture of electrification goals for the year.
“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
