At the heart of the beast is the bi-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that makes 397 PS and 583 Nm, delivering approximately 85 percent more power than the predecessor's 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel with 213 PS / 500 Nm. 

The engine boasts a compacted graphite iron-cylinder block which is claimed to be 75 percent stronger and stiffer than a traditional cast iron block, technology lifted straight off Ford's Nascar race program. 

Besides larger capacity, the bi-turbo V6 is equipped with an anti-lag system (in Baja mode) which keeps the turbos spooled for up to 3 seconds after lifting off the accelerator pedal. 

The engine is mated to Ford's 10-speed automatic, with gear ratios that have been specifically matched to the engine.

Distributing torque to all four wheels is the Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF) system which augments a newly developed electronically controlled two-speed transfer case. A locking differential features on each axle for maximum traction. 

Managing all that power is a reinforced chassis and sophisticated FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shock absorbers which adjust electronically to adapt to the terrain up to 500 times a second.

To protect against 'bottom-outs' the absorbers are designed with a maximum damping force in the last 25 percent of shock travel. Similarly, the system can also stiffen the rear absorbers to prevent squatting under hard acceleration or in the corners. 

Another highlight feature of the 2022 Raptor is its Terrain Management System which offers up to 7-selectable drive modes:

Each selection adjusts and augments the engine, transmission, ABS, as well as the stability and traction control depending on the driver's needs and terrain conditions. The Terrain Management System is accessible through the SYNC4A touchscreen. 

In terms of aesthetics, the 2022 Raptor features C-clamp Matrix LED headlamps and a front grille featuring the Ford script. 

Further down, the 2022 Raptor features a brawny front bumper with functional air vents, whilst a reinforced alloy skid plate is positioned at the bottom to protect the engine. 

Along the flanks, the 2022 Raptor receives wide wheel arches for a beefier stance, and to accommodate wide 285/70 R17 BF Goodrich K02 all-terrain tires all round. 

Elsewhere, the 2022 Raptor is fitted with functional fender vents, and powder coated die cast aluminium side steps to aid entry and egress. 

Round the back, it's finished off with a purposeful "Raptor" logo and a unique rear bumper with an integrated step pad and towbar. 

The interior of the 2022 Raptor is claimed to be inspired by a fighter jet, as seen in the sport bucket seats (10-way powered in front) and roof-mounted auxiliary switches. 

Additionally, the 2022 Raptor's cabin is highlighted with the signature Code Orange highlights for additional pizzaz. 

Front and centre is a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with Ford SYNC4A infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audio is routed through an 8-speaker Bang & Olufsen system. 

For the driver, there's a separate 12.4-inch TFT cluster display relaying all important information. Other equipment highlights include 4 USB charging ports, a wireless Qi charger and a 360-degree camera. 

In terms of safety, the 2022 Raptor carries the full salvo of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that also feature on the 2022 Ranger Wildtrak. These include:

The 2022 Raptor is offered in 5 exterior colours - Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning, Conquer Grey and the highlight Code Orange. 

The 2022 Raptor is offered with a 5-year/160,000 km manufacturer's warranty, customers can alternatively opt for a 2-year extended warranty with SDAC's PremiumCare packages.
