Not too long is left before we close the curtains on this year, but we won't be bereft of new cars that's for sure. One of them will be all-electric 2022 Volvo C40 RechargeEV that's coming to Malaysia.
It's been talked about since Q1 this year, and photos have surfaced on social media, but as it was taken in a private facility we're not able to show you.
The car's fully covered up, leaving only the 19"-inch diamond-cut wheels and a bit of its tail lights visible, but the general silhouette leaves little to the imagination.
Though its supposed to come this year, supply chain disruptions because of the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage is complicating matters. However, registration of interest for it is up on Volvo Cars' Malaysia's website too.
Like the rest of the marque's range here, the C40 Recharge is touted to be locally-assembled (CKD).
Preliminary specs lists an "up to 530 km" range (NEDC) on a single charge and a 4.7-second 0-100 km/h time, all made possible by a pair of electric motors at both axles that produce a combined 404 PS and 660 Nm.
Charging via an AC outlet takes between 8 to 72 hours depending on the power output (supports up to 11 kW AC charging) while it takes 40 minutes to charge via a 150 kW DC fast charger.
Google services are built-in as the car runs off the brand's Android Automotive infotainment suite. Plus there's a 100% leather-free cabin too.
You'll have to wait a while longer for prices and additional details, all of which we'll share with you as we have it. For now, watch the C40 Recharge's promo video below, I don't think there's ever a bad time to rewatch something this cool...
