Late last year during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (2021 GIIAS), Honda showcased the SUV RS Concept. The new subcompact crossover has its sights set on the Perodua Ativa, Toyota Raize, Daihatsu Rocky, and Kia Sonet.
Said SUV, which could be called Honda ZR-V, will likely be positioned as a smaller SUV than the Honda HR-V. Recall that the HR-V is currently Honda's smallest SUV.
In his rendition of the ZR-V, he gave the upcoming model a front grille that’s inspired by the City Hatchback and Civic, while the wheels were lifted off the outgoing, RU-generation Honda HR-V RS.
While the wheels were lifted off the previous-generation HR-V, the full-length LED tail lights are clearly inspired by the newer RV-generation Honda HR-V.
That said, the rendered version does keep some of the concept car’s design cues, such as the raked window line as well as front and rear bumper designs. The front and rear bumper guard and flared fender arches have been carried over as well.
What remains to be seen is the powertrain options of the SUV RS Concept. Seeing that it shares its platform with the all-new 2022 Honda BR-V, it’s not a stretch to say that it could be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine that does 121 PS and 145 Nm.
Ditto to the production version’s safety equipment. The full Honda Sensing ADAS suite will likely be offered on the new ZR-V, putting it toe-to-toe with the Perodua Ativa.
Now that the production version has been rendered, would you pick this Honda over the well-established Ativa?
