It turns out it wasn’t the Agong’s motorcade that social activist, Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang, came across the other day. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) has clarified that the convoy belongs to the Sultan of Kedah instead.
In the incident that happened on Wednesday morning, Uncle Kentang was transporting a patient to the National Heart Institute (IJN) when he came across a VIP convoy along Jalan Semantan.
But instead of stopping his ambulance, the three officers indicated to Uncle Kentang to follow them and opened the way for his ambulance to avoid any congestion on the road.
Uncle Kentang hadn’t been sure who the convoy belonged to at the time but speculated that it belonged to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
But it turns out that Uncle Kentang was wrong as the convoy belonged to Yang Maha Mulia (KDYMM) Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of Kedah instead.
At the time, His Royal Highness and his convoy were heading towards the Istana Negara to attend the 258th Conference of Rulers Meeting.
Either way, the incident has restored faith amongst the rakyat after another incident of motorcades holding up an ambulance in Johor reignited criticism against VIPs and its convoy.
