Pelumba F1 negara baru? Tunggu 20 tahun lagi, kata CEO Litar Antarabangsa Sepang (SIC)

Sebelum bersaing semula di dalam sukan Formula 1 (F1), kita memerlukan sekurang-kurangnya 15 hingga 20 tahun lagi bagi mendidik dan mencari bakat tempatan. Ini adalah kenyataan yang dibuat oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Litar Antarabangsa Sepang (SIC), Azhan Shafriman Hanif.

Setakat ini, hanya Alex Yoong kekal sebagai pelumba tempatan yang pernah bersaing di kejuaraan Formula 1 dimana kali terakhir dia memandunya adalah pada tahun 2002.

Azhan juga berkata projek untuk mendidik dan mencari bakat tempatan untuk bersaing di dalam Formula 1 bukanlah projek jangka-pendek. Ini kerana Malaysia selalu terburu-buru (mahu melihat pelumba) bertukar dari satu perlumbaan ke perlumbaan lain yang lebih tinggi tahapnya.

Sepatutnya, masa yang secukupnya perlu diberi untuk mengasah bakat mereka.

Setiap kali pelumba beraksi di kejuaraan F4, F3, F2 dan seterusnya F1, mereka memerlukan peruntukan dan dana kewangan yang teramat tinggi. Sokongan dari pihak kerajaan dan swasta amatlah penting, kata Azhan.

Oleh itu, di bawah kepimpinannya di SIC, beliau akan memastikan taraf dan tahap pembangunan pelumba dan jentera empat roda seimbang dengan dua roda.

Becakap tentang Formula 1, ada yang tertanya adakah ia bakal kembali semula ke Malaysia. Menurut bos SIC sendiri, organisasi itu masih belum mempunyai pandang an yang jelas.

"Jika satu hari nanti F1 berminat untuk kembali ke Malaysia dan tawarannya juga agak menarik serta boleh dipertimbangkan, kita akan berbincang dengan pihak kerajaan.

"Sebab yuran untuk menyertai F1 memang agak tinggi berbanding MotoGP. Keputusan sama ada F1 akan kembali ke Malaysia harus dibuat secara menyeluruh," katanya.

Bagi kami, Malaysia dan SIC perlu melihat industri sukan permotoran ini dari aspek menyeluruh dan bukan sahaja di tahap yang tertinggi seperti MotoGP dan Formula 1.

Tiada gunanya jika kita hanya fokus kepada yang diatas sahaja, manakala mana yang di tahap grassroots (paling asas) ini tidak mendapat perhatian yang secukupnya.

Sukan permotoran adalah hak, bukan hanya untuk golongan yang berduit dan istimewa sahaja. Jika dilihat di negara-negara maju seperti Jepun dan New Zealand, industri sukan permotoran banyak menyumbang kepada ekonomi negara dan rata-rata mendapat sokongan penuh dari pihak kerajaan mahupun swasta.

Sama juga bagi dua roda, individu perlu bermula dari tahap yang bawah sebelum naik ke tahap seterusnya. Gambar ihsan Selangorkini.

Di Malaysia, ada segelintir penganjur sukan permotoran di tahap grassroots yang aktif yang memberi peluang kepada orang ramai untuk menceburi atau mencuba nasib di dalam industri ini.

Penganjur sukan permotoran grassroots seperti Malaysian Speed Festival (MSF) mahupun Grass Racing Autosports (GRA) adalah antara dua organisasi bukan NGO yang aktif membawa agenda bahawa sukan permotoran sepatutnya menjadi lebih berpatutan, mesra rakyat, dan dilihat sebagai aktiviti yang memacu ekonomi negara..
