Basic information of my car:

2010 Mazda 2 1.5 V Grade

Reasons why I bought this car

I need to drive something similar of my previous junkie, Ford Fiesta, which doesn't give me so much headaches or silly problems like my ex. First encounter about Mazda 2 in my head was when I had to decided which brake disc brand to choose from and I opted for the cheapest one that was offered which was a rotor disc for Mazda 2, the repair guy told me they both share most common parts with each other, that to me was an eye opener and I happen to make some research on the internet about Mazda 2 when I first Google about best hot hatch on the internet, and I already knew that Mazda 2 was a beautiful hot hatch, it makes me drooling even more when I got to know about the origin and some recognition that this car has. I have to admit I'm all over the moon about Mazda 2 when I discovered that it shared the same chassis platform with Ford Fiesta.

Car selection process

  • I had a budget of: RM30000
  • Models that I have considered include: Kia Picanto 2015 and 2018, Mazda 3 1.6 2010-2011, VW Golf, VW Polo, Proton Iriz 2016, New Proton Saga 2020
  • Reasons why I chose this car:

Once you get the taste of continental car, you could never go back to Japanese or anything than that, sadly you couldn't guarantee how reliable this junks are, their parts are hard to get sometimes rare, therefore what I'm looking forward to is a car that can bring that same spirit, that has some personality and sense of driving style, that puts a smile on my face for every floor that I have to put on that pedal, the shift must be instant and straight forward, just like the feeling when you drive Ford Fiesta, exhilarating experience and Mazda 2 has it all

User experience

  • I have already done 114054km.My average fuel consumption is 6.8-8.9L/100km.
  • Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are (Please tell us your overall experience of the car):

city/country : 6.8L/100km Town : 8.9L/100km I gotta say Mazda 2 surprise me with that nippy 103bhp the engine is highly demanding, it's minimum but just enough to go Savage on the road like no other, and it's very lightweight compare to any hot hatch which is a plus and I gotta say the shift is quick enough to make a headstart for a daily driver who doesn't want to be thrown off for wasting time on red lights, but the fun ride is just so much better when you gear up to S mode...it drives you wild and crazy for more speed... Too bad it's just 100bhp, I wish I could tuned in further up to another 15 or 20 more bhp, that will be murderous... Summing up the whole experience, you can tell that I'm extremely happy with my purchase and I'm owning everything that I want from a hot hatch with Mazda 2

Pros of my car:

  • Design :

  • Interior : is basic but practical, back in the day, round circle air vents was a trend and most common cars will get this nice plastic cabin with CD player sets but what Mazda did with the 2 is a Lil bit thoughful and unconventional. In the store compartment, there's magazine rack in between. So slide on your important documents or paper at ease. It also comes with steering buttons for higher trim, But mine was the V grade first model so I don't get that much fancier set up

  • Exterior : when the first time I laid my eyes on my car, I definitely can tell the design is modern and sexy, what I mean sexy is that this car has all the right lines and curves, not only looks good but very aerodynamic.. You can tell it will be evergreen for years of generations to come, can you believe 20 year old car can still keep up with 2020ish car design, Mazda 2 DE is forever youthful

  • Engine : yes it's 1.5 litre MZR DOHC that looks ordinary, but hold on to that thought until you flip the key, this engine could revv like non other conventional hot hatch, it's 103bhp packed up with a whole lot of power that could take your further, you will be smiling with proud for each seconds you floored on the pedal.

  • Chassis : one thing that make the 2 is even better than its non identical twin the fiesta, is the lightweight body chassis, so the remedy goes, the lighter the better... This car is already tuned to drive like sports car

Cons

  • Timid space - the leg room at the back is not so generous and some might have difficulty to get comfy with the seating position as well but what can you expect for such a hot hatch, it's a choice and sacrifice situation

  • Noise pollution and awful sound - this something you may want to consider before you buy this car, if you're ears are too sensitive, you may hear knocking sound on the steering rack which is so annoying to listen to every single time it hits, and don't forget about its poor sound insulation as you might get to hear crackling wind noise as you go further to 100.. This car will let you hear so much noise from the track or the vibration of the crank absorber too..

Summary :

I gotta say Mazda 2 surprise me with that nippy 103bhp the engine is highly demanding, it's minimum but just enough to go Savage on the road like no other, and it's very lightweight compare to any hot hatch which is a plus and I gotta say the shift is quick enough to make a headstart for a daily driver who doesn't want to be thrown off for wasting time on red lights, but the fun ride is just so much better when you gear up to S mode...it begs you to go wild and crazy for more speed... Interesting event:

I recently made some cosmetic changes, just a Lil something something on the headlamp, turning the regular import projector headlight into a retro fit inspired.. And also a major replacement on the suspension sets absorber, drive shafts, coil spring and stuff.. And now it's breathing like a brand new, loving my dos chica
