The Toyota Granvia nameplate might be applied to the Taiwanese and Australian versions of the Toyota GranAce / Toyota Majesty, but over in China, it’s a totally different model.

For the Middle Kingdom, the Toyota Granvia is essentially a sister model to the Toyota Sienna (not to be confused with the similarly-named Sienta), manufactured by FAW Toyota. Its sister model, the Toyota Sienna, is made by GAC Toyota.

Power for the China-market Toyota Granvia is expected to mirror the Sienna. Power for the latter comes from a petrol-electric hybrid, featuring a 2.5-litre engine hooked up to an electric motor, allowing for a combined system output of 249 PS. Power is routed to the front wheels via an eCVT.

Under the WLTC test cycle, the Toyota Sienna returns 5.89-litre/100 km. Quite an amazing feat for an MPV that weights more than 2 tonnes.

Seeing that the Granvia is a sister model to the Sienna, equipment count is expected to be similar as well. The Sienna is reasonably well equipped, offering features like the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite, heated and ventilated seats, in-car 4G LTE internet connectivity, as well as up to 9 USB charging ports.

FAW Toyota will be launching the Toyota Granvia later this year. Prices for the new MPV are unknown at this point of time, but its sister model, the Sienna, is priced between RMB 309,800 (~RM 204k) to RMB 379,800 (~RM 251k).
