After much teasing, it seems like Honda Indonesia is gearing up to put the Honda SUV RS Concept into series production real soon.
Our colleagues over at Autofun Indonesia recently spotted these curious entries in the NJKB Samsat DKI Jakarta website. Samsat is the Indonesian equivalent of our own JPJ.
In the Samsat website, five variants of the purported SUV RS Concept were listed. Though the model names are unknown, the codenames used were DG47 and DG48, not too far off the second-generation Honda BR-V’s codename, which is DG3.
Also in the Samsat website were the powertrains of the new SUV, in which the SUV could get the same naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre DOHC petrol engine as the City and City Hatchback, producing 121 PS and 145 Nm. Transmission choices include a manual and CVT transmission.
Furthermore, wholesale prices before tax of the SUV RS Concept were listed, whereby prices overlap the Honda Mobilio. Pre-tax prices of the SUV RS Concept range between IDR 163 million (~RM 48k) to IDR 189 million (~RM 56k), whereas pre-tax prices of the Honda Mobilio range between IDR 173 million (~RM 51k) to IDR 192 million (~RM 57k).
For reference, Samsats prices exclude tax and transfer fees.
With taxes included, the Honda Mobilio is priced between IDR 215.7 million (~RM 64k) to IDR 238.3 million (~RM 71k), which should give a rough idea of how much the SUV RS Concept could be sold in Indonesia.
For context, that’s right smack in the same price range as the Indonesian-spec Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky duo, which are priced between IDR 214.2 million (~RM 64k) to IDR 244.7 million (~RM 73k).
What about Malaysia?
Honda Indonesia also mentioned that this crossover will eventually be offered in the ASEAN region, likely including Malaysia as well. Apart from the ASEAN region, said crossover will also be offered in developing nations, like South America.
