Your first AMG? CKD 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 teased ahead of Malaysia launch

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will be launching a new variant of its 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA compact SUV very soon. The company has just made a teaser post on its official Instagram account with the caption “Break the mould of what your everyday can be. Keep your eyes and ears open for a thrilling return.”

The silhouette image shows an SUV-esque vehicle (roof rails are obvious) with an AMG Pan Americana grille, plus LED daytime running signature that clearly belongs to the GLA.

Checks with dealers suggests that the model teased is a Mercedes-AMG GLA 35. Not only that, but the model is also said to be locally assembled (CKD), which means lower prices.

The GLA 35 is powered by a 306 PS / 400 Nm 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual-clutch transmission driving all four wheels (4Matic).

Prices have yet to be announced but for reference, the CKD GLA 250 is priced at RM 271,164, with SST exemption, valid until 30-June 2022.

Also teased today is what we believe to be the CKD AMG A35 Sedan.
