Toyota Yaris continues dominance over City Hatchback in Thailand in May 2022

Once again, the battle between Honda and Toyota in Thailand intensifies as both Japanese giants duke it out to see who takes the top spot in the monthly sales. For the B-segment hatchback market, it’s the Toyota Yaris that is triumphant over the Honda City Hatchback in May 2022.

As a matter of fact, the Yaris is dominating the B-segment hatchback market in 2022 so far, taking the title in the first 5 months of the year. May’s sales of 2,011 units bring the total figure to 12,375 units so far or 36.1% market share.

Meanwhile, the Honda City Hatchback saw 1,241 units sold in the same period which gives a total of 8,042 units sold in the first 5 months of 2022.

In third and fourth place for May are the Mazda 2 Hatchback with 717 units and the Suzuki Swift with 524 units respectively. However, the position is swapped in terms of overall sales for 2022 so far with the Suzy hatchback taking third with 4,026 units while the Mazda takes fourth with 3,040 units sold.

Despite having discontinued in the Kingdom, the Honda Jazz (32 units) still managed to outsell two hatchbacks in May, namely the Nissan Note (12 units) and Nissan March (11 units). All three models are considered ageing though with each model being replaced by newer generations outside Thailand.
