UMW Toyota Motor has announced today that sales for Toyota vehicles is up 13 percent for June 2022 with 8,870 units delivered, versus 7,442 units in May. The company upscale Lexus division also halved its sales, from 137 units to 69 units but that's because it is transitioning into the all-new 2022 Lexus NX and Lexus RX.
Cumulatively, total sales of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the first 6 months of 2022 now stands at 45,911 units, up 35 percent from the same 6-month period in 2021, which saw only 34,111 units delivered.
Post-SST resumption, the company says there will be some short-term impact but this will be mitigated by reduced waiting period for Toyota and Lexus vehicles following improved in Toyota’s supply chain.
Checks with dealers show that the waiting period for a Toyota model is on average, about 1 month shorter than an equivalent Honda model.
The company also says upcoming new model launches will also provide more choices to customers.
Attractive rebates will also keep buyers happy. "Driving into the second half of 2022, Toyota fans can expect fantastic mid-year savings and cash rebates in tandem with product launches while experiencing first-hand how UMW Toyota Motor goes the Extra Mile to provide the best value for an exceptional drive," said the company.
The company will be launching the all-new 2022 Toyota Veloz very soon. Bookings are now opened, with prices estimated to start from RM 95,000.
Replacing the now-discontinued Toyota Avanza, the sportier and more upscale Veloz will come with adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking (Toyota calls it Pre-Collision System, PCS), electric parking brake, wireless smartphone charging, massive 498-litre boot space, and a more efficient front-wheel drive drivetrain (still powered by the same 1.5-litre engine, but now paired to a CVT-type automatic).
More importantly, its passenger car platform also means that it will now match the Mitsubishi Xpander and Honda BR-V’s ride comfort.
Apart from new model launches, UMW Toyota adds that after-sales and financing solutions will be the key focus for the second half of 2022.
"Shifting gears into the second half of 2022, UMW Toyota Motors is focused on going the Extra Mile to provide Toyota owners with the best ownership and after-sales experience by reimagining what ownership is about. Looking ahead, shifting consumer behaviours will likely place value on advanced automotive technologies and comprehensive security features supported by a host of value-added after- sales services.
“At UMW Toyota Motor, we offer owners not only the best technological advancement at their fingertips for a smoother and safer drive, we go the Extra Mile to enhance their ownership journey. Through financial and insurance packages, top- notch servicing and Toyota 247 roadside assist, we are confident in delivering an unforgettable journey from the starting line by taking great care of our customers from the moment they enter our doors,” said Ravindran K, President of UMW Toyota Motor.
