• Perodua to build 3,000 units of the Alza per month
• First month registration estimated to hit 4,300 units
• Estimated waiting period at 10 months

Perodua has received over 30,000 bookings for its 2022 Perodua Alza since bookings were opened on 23-June. Out of this total, nearly 4,000 bookings were converted from previous generation Alza, before the order books was officially opened. 

The company's latest 7-seater was launched earlier this morning, with prices ranging from RM 62,500 to RM 75,500.

Despite the high number of bookings, Perodua says all Alza bookings made on or before 30-June 2022 will be fulfilled before 31-March 2023, the cut-off date to register SST-exempted cars.

The 10 percent sales tax (SST) for new cars resumed on 1-July 2022, after it was waived for one year. Previously, cars had to be registered before the cut-off date of 30-June 2022 to qualify for SST-exempted prices. However, the government has since extended this to 31-March 2023, in view of the severe disruption in supply chain affecting the global automotive industry.

The 30,000 Alza bookings received before launch is the highest record ever achieved by any Perodua model.

"This achievement was due to several factors, chief among them was that customers wanted to take full advantage of sales tax exemption initiative, which expired on 30-June 2022 and of the over 200,000 bookings we currently hold, nearly 15 percent was for this full model change," Perodua President and CEO, Dato' Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

"Beginning today, some of our customers will be receiving their all-new Perodua Alza from 195 authorised sales showrooms across the country. Also, we assure our customers who booked their all-new Perodua Alza on or before 30-June will receive their vehicle before the 31-March 2023 deadline," he added.

The company also says there is an estimated 10-month waiting period for the 2022 Perodua Alza.

As before, the Perodua Alza is made at Perodua's plant in Rawang. Specifically, at the Perodua Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (PMSB) line, which also makes the Myvi, Aruz, and Toyota Rush (OEM supply, contract manufacturing).

The plant will be producing 3,000 units of the Alza per month. However for the first month of sales, Perodua aims to deliver about 4,300 units.

Perodua says the Alza has a 95 percent local content, similar to the Ativa, which is made at the Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (PGMSB) line, on the same line as the Axia and Bezza.
