Video: Ford Ranger ends in ditch after reckless overtake along double line 01

A harrowing video of a Ford Ranger overtaking along a double line, narrowly avoiding another vehicle and then later ending in a ditch has been making its round on social media. This has further fueled the debate for reckless driving pick-up truck drivers.

In the video uploaded by TikTok user miss-aja02, a silver Ford Ranger was seen trying to overtake a heavy tanker while on a double line.

@ig_miss_aja02 kalau bertembung smlm ni xtau la mcm mana Sy ArinišŸ˜šŸ˜sebab kan org lain xde otak..kita org driver Lori yg kena elak..nasib barang xtumbangšŸ˜šŸ˜korang klau nk potong pastikan Selamat dulu ye @ tgu driver Lori bg signal Kiri Bru la memotong..sbb diorg nmpk apa yg ada kt depan..ni x suka2 hati jer nk memotong tang selekoh plk..kan menyusahkan dirišŸ˜” #akakloripurple #missaja02 #idolaselatan #abgloripurple ā™¬ bunyi asal - ApexTajudin_Official

We can see that the vehicle with the dashcam, which was coming in the opposite direction, had to brake and pull towards the road shoulder to avoid the Ranger as it passed.

According to miss-aja02’s caption, she had originally stopped the vehicle she was driving intending to make an issue with the Ford Ranger driver.

However, she discovered that minutes after the reckless overtake, the Ranger had ended up in a ditch as the driver had lost control of his vehicle.

This video came just days after news portal Kosmo reported that driving instructors believe that pick-up truck drivers require a special licence to be able to drive them.

Chief instructor at TIC Advanced & Performance Driving Academy, Azad Jasmi, reasoned that many who learn how to drive and sit for Class D driving tests do so in cars such as the Perodua Kancil and Perodua Axia.

These cars are way smaller than a pick-up in size let alone much less powerful. However, drivers are legally permitted to drive four-wheel-drive vehicles which are much larger, taller, and more powerful after they have acquired a Class D driving licence.

Azad believes that pick-up truck drivers should be required to obtain a special licence such as the goods delivery licence (GDL) and the public service vehicle (PSV) licence to be allowed to drive a pick-up.

There isnā€™t a time in memory that doesnā€™t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenā€™s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
