New, SST-inclusive prices for the Proton X50 in Malaysia are out, naturally seeing an increase of 9% to 10%. The new prices of the X50, as confirmed by dealers, are as follows:
Proton X50 prices in Malaysia

Executive
RM 93,300 (up RM 8,500)
Premium
RM 101,800 (up RM 8,600)
Flagship
RM 113,300 (up RM 10,000)
Bear in mind that it was first launched in 2020, when locally-assembled cars (CKD) were still exempt from the Sales and Services Tax (SST). The benefit, under the Penjana economic stimulus scheme, has expired on 30-June 2022.
However, for buyers who have booked their cars before 30-June 2022 but have yet to receive them will pay SST-free prices, provided their cars are registered before 31-March 2023.
The X50 Flagship now overlaps the Proton X70 Executive TGDi's RM 110,800 price tag. Both share the same engine – a 177 PS, 255 Nm turbocharged three-cylinder that's now made in Malaysia – and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, though obviously the X70 offers more in terms of size.
This price increase also sees the gap between the Honda HR-V and Proton X50 get ever closer, with the naturally-aspirated HR-V 1.5 S priced at RM 114,800. Creature comfort levels are obviously different, but don't forget the HR-V is no 'kosong-spec' either; with Honda Sensing ADAS being standard on the model. Our deep dive on that can be read below.
