• Toyota Hilux Rogue goes on sale next month
• Upgrades includes wider track, increased height, suspension and brakes
• Price same as the existing model

Two days ago, Toyota Australia announced the pricing and spec details of its upgraded Hilux Rogue, which is set to arrive in local showrooms in October.

The 2023 Toyota Hilux Rogue will start from AUD 70,200 plus on-road costs, which means the upgrades will be offered to customers with no price increase.

Sporting significant mechanical upgrades that improve both on- and off-road capabilities, the upgrades include wider track, increased ride height, upgraded suspension and brakes, and larger wheels.

The Hilux Rogue features the new wide track, overfenders and mudguards that house the increased track width and integrate seamlessly into the front bumper.

The Rogue’s ride height increased approximately 20 mm while its suspension centre around a front and rear track increase of approximately 140 mm.

Sean Hanley, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations of Toyota Australia said, “With its wider track and increased ride height, the improved Hilux Rogue not only looks the part, but plays it too”.

Toyota engineers upgraded the Rogue’s suspension by extending the length of the front suspension arm and front stabiliser bar, while also adjusting the front damper angle to improve efficiency.

Moreover, the rear axle has also been lengthened and as such, the rear dampers have been moved out towards the wheels.

For the first time, the Toyota Hilux Rogue features a rear stabiliser bar, which Toyota said it will improve roll rigidity by 20% and enhance steering feel when taking corners around a bend as well as switching lanes.

“Its improved driveability on and off road combined with its tough new look and keen pricing make the new Hilux Rogue a particularly enticing proposition for Toyota customers,” said Hanley.

Furthermore, the brakes are further improved with rear ventilated disc brakes replacing the existing drum brakes. This is a significant improvement for stopping power. Wheels are now 18-inch alloys with a darkened finish, replacing the existing 17-inch alloys.

The Rogue retains features unique to the Hilux range such as its innovative, locally developed motorised roller cover, stylish resin sports bar and design touches, and a tub lined with marine-grade carpet.

Other standard features include heated front seats with perforated leather accented upholstery, panoramic view monitor (360-cam) and an integrated trailer wiring harness and tow ball.

Nine-speaker premium audio system also comes as standard for the Hilux Rogue but customers can choose to opt out of this and receive a six-speaker setup for a AUD 750 discount.

Toyota Australia has implemented this as a temporary strategy to secure continued supply of the Hilux Rogue for customers. Toyota advised its dealers to provide customers wait time estimates for any specific vehicle orders.

With no price increase for the significant upgrades to customers, Hanley said this would be a compelling offer for its customers.

The Hilux Rogue is powered by the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel rated at 204 PS (201 hp) and 500 Nm. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and power gets sent to all four wheels. This is the same across the dual-cab four-wheel drive Hilux range.

Toyota Australia says there will be nine exterior colours to choose for the Hilux Rogue namely, Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Sky, Graphite, Eclipse Black, Nebula Blue, Feverish Red, Saturn Blue and Oxide Bronze.
