Before 2022 ends, Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB), the new Peugeot distributor in Malaysia, is set to debut the Peugeot e-2008. It is the EV version of the regular petrol-powered B-segment SUV. The regular petrol-powered Peugeot 2008 is locally-assembled (CKD) at Stellantis's facility in Gurun, Kedah.
As the name suggests, the e-2008 swaps out the internal combustion engine in favour of a 136 PS, 260 Nm electric motor, powered by a 50-kWh battery pack that’s located under the front seats.

Under the WLTP test cycle, Peugeot claims that the e-2008 offers a range of up to 345 km; higher than Mazda MX-30 and Hyundai Kona (e-Lite and e-Plus).
Differences between the e-2008 and the regular 2008 include a body-coloured front grille, various “e” badging scattered on the exterior, as well as a charging port where the fuel lid is.
Speaking of charging, the Peugeot e-2008 features a CCS Type 2 connector that supports up to 100 kW of DC fast charging. 30 minutes of fast charging brings the battery up to 80-percent capacity. If a DC fast charger isn’t available, trickle charging using the 7.4 kW single-phase wallbox takes 8 hours to full charge the e-2008.

Markets that currently sell the Peugeot e-2008 include the United Kingdom. For those in the UK, prices of the e-2008 start from GBP 33,230 (~RM 173k), which is a tad bit more expensive than the Mazda MX-30 (GBP 25,545, ~RM 133k) and entry price of the Hyundai Kona Electric (GBP 30,450, ~RM 159k).
Whether this price arrangement will be the same in Malaysia is still left to be answered, as a car's final pricing relies on many other factors and not just the wholesale / transfer price of the vehicle alone.
Elsewhere, Peugeot Singapore has opened up the order books for the e-2008, stating that the EV will be coming soon.
