All-new 2022 Ford Everest launched in Malaysia - priced from RM 263,888

Following the launch of the all-new Ford Ranger in July, local distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has now upped the ante with the official introduction of the all-new 7-seater 2022 Ford Everest SUV.

First unveiled in March, the 2022 Everest is offered in 3 variants across 2 powertrains at the following prices: 

• 2.0L Single turbo 4x2 6AT Sport: RM 263,888
• 2.0L Bi-turbo 4x4 10AT Trend: RM 281,888
• 2.0L Bi-turbo 4x4 10AT Titanium: RM 308,888

The 2022 Ford Everest is fully-imported (CBU) from Thailand, produced at the Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) plant in Rayong.

The new starting prices represent a circa RM 34k (~13 percent) increase over the previous generation 2018 Everest, at RM 229k (2.0L Trend AWD) and RM 259k (2.0L Bi-turbo Titanium AWD).

The 2022 Everest is underpinned by an updated T6.2 platform – a ladder-frame platform architecture that is shared with the 2022 Ranger and US-market Ford Bronco.

However, all three models feature different wheelbase lengths – with the 2022 Everest (measuring 2,900 mm) sitting squarely between the Ranger’s 3,270 mm and the Bronco’s 2,550 mm wheelbase lengths.

Like the Ranger, the 2022 Everest’s track and wheelbase have also grown by 50 mm respectively over its predecessor.

Mirroring the powertrains offered with the 2022 Ranger, the entry-level Sport 4x2 6AT variant is powered by the 2.0-litre single turbo four-cylinder which outputs 170 PS and 405 Nm mated to a 6-speed automatic. 

The Trend and Titanium features the same 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder turbodiesel featured in the Ranger XLT+ and Wildtrak, which outputs 210 PS and 500 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Power is distributed to all four wheels through the (10R80) 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

Here's how the 2022 Everest variants shape up:

On the outside, the 2022 Everest has been designed to look tough and yet stylish. At the front, the 2022 Everest shares many styling cues from the Ranger, such as the C-clamp headlamps and horizontal upper grille bar. 

Along the flanks the shoulder line runs from front to back, further accentuating the length of the vehicle, whilst wide wheel arches give it an overall muscular look. 

On the inside, the Everest features the same coast-to-coast dashboard design as the Ranger, albeit with more premium execution.

The centre console features dual cupholder recesses, plus dash-mounted ‘pop out’ cupholders for front seat occupants.

The new layout centres around a portrait-style infotainment touchscreen which measures 12-inches in the Titanium variant. All 2022 Everest variants pack Ford's latest SYNC4A infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In terms of equipment, the Sport and Trend variants feature similar equipment levels, with the Titanium variant carrying a much larger array of convenience features and safety equipment. 

Access to the third-row seats is improved thanks to second-row seats that slide further forward than before. Additionally, all occupants now have additional storage place plus integrated power outlets in all three rows.

Ford has prioritised flexible seating in the next-gen Everest; the second-row slides with a 60:40 split seatback and the 50:50 split third-row in the seven-seater configuration can be folded at the touch of a button. 

Additionally, both the second-and third-row seats have been designed to fold flat to allow for long loads to be carried safely.

As for safety, all 2022 Everest variants are offered as standard with the following safety features:

• 7 airbags
• ABS with EBD
• Stability control
• Traction control
• Hill launch assist
• Hill Descent Control
• Rollover Mitigation (ROM)

The 2022 Everest Titanium variant adds a comprehensive suite of Advance Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) that include:

• Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Centering (ACC)
• Active Park Assist 2.0 (APA)
• Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
• Lane Departure Warning and Assist (LDW)
• Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
• Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with cyclist and pedestrian detection
• Evasive Steer Assist - boosts steering assistance for evasion (ESA)
• Reverse Brake Assist (RBA)
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
• Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)

The 2022 Everest is offered in 7 different colours - Blue Lighting (Sport only), Absolute Black, Meteor Grey, Equinox Bronze, Aluminium Metallic, Sedona Orange and Arctic White.

Like the Range, the 2022 Everest is offered with a standard 3-year or 100,000 km (whichever comes first) manufacturer's warranty, and owners can also opt for a further 2-year/ 60,000 km warranty (total 5 years) with SDAC’s Extended Warranty program.
