The all-new sixth-generation Honda CR-V is finally on sale in China, and just as reported earlier only the 1.5-litre turbocharged guise with a choice of 5-seats or 7-seats are available for purchase for now. The hybrid (e:HEV) and plug-in hybrid (e:PHEV) versions will only be launched in the first quarter of next year.

Available in seven variants, prices for the CR-V start from CNY 185,900 (~RM 120,000) for the entry-level Active variant and tops off at CNY 249,900 (~RM 162,000) for the range-topping Honour variant.

Prices of the base variant 1.5T CR-V have increased by at least CNY 6,100 (~RM 4,000), about 4 percent more, compared to the previous generation. However, prices for the range-topping variant only say a minor CNY 100 (~RM 65), 0.04%, increase.

This could be because the new CR-V is equipped with a more modern infotainment system, AI tech, and other features such as a head-up display (HUD).

For the sixth generation, Honda has included all the modern bells and whistles that a modern car should have. Aside from an exterior and interior designed to attract younger buyers, the car also comes with modern tech like Honda Connect 3.0.

Honda Connect 3.0 is equipped with advanced AI Technology that comes with functions that allow the driver to operate home appliances and even shop online in the car. It also allows drivers to check the status of the car through their mobile phones.

Other than that, the CR-V also comes with a complete suite of Honda Sensing ADAS. The system includes all the usual features as well as Front Cross Traffic Warning (FCTW), Lane Change Collision Management (LCCM), and all-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Like the previous generation, the CR-V is still powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 193 PS and 243 Nm. The engine is also mated to a CVT that sends power to either the front wheels or to all four wheels.

As mentioned, Dongfeng Honda is looking to launch the e:HEV and e:PHEV versions as soon as the first quarter of 2023.

Closer to home, the sixth-generation Honda CR-V has already been spotted testing in Thailand multiple times. It won’t be long now before the SUV makes its regional debut here, however, it might take another year before it will see a local launch.
