BMW iX3 – RM 322,800 to RM 343,800

The BMW iX3 has a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 286 PS/400 Nm. 0-100 km/h takes 6.8 seconds while top speed is capped at 180 km/h.

An 80-kWh lithium-ion battery offers a WLTP range of up to 461 km. It supports DC fast charging at rates of up to 150 kW for 80% charge in 32 minutes, while AC charging at up to 11 kW is supported via a Type 2 connection for 100% in approximately 7.5 hours.

Two variants are available – Inspiring and Impressive, priced at RM 322,800 and RM 343,800 respectively.

BMW iX – RM 379,800 to RM 425,800

Power of the BMW iX xDrive40 comes from a dual-motor setup (all-wheel drive) with 326 PS/630 Nm that does 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, while top speed is 200 km/h.

Battery capacity is rated at 76.6 kWh, which allows for an electric range of up to 425 km in the WLTP cycle. The onboard charger allows up to 11 kW AC charging while DC fast charging is rated at 150 kW via CCS 2 connection.

Two variants are available - xDrive40 and xDrive40 Sport, priced at RM 379,800 and RM 425,800 respectively.

BMW i4 – RM 389,800 to RM 430,800

The BMW i4 eDrive40 has a rear-mounted electric motor that generates a maximum output of 340 PS/430 Nm. 0-100 km/h sprint can be achieved in 5.7 seconds, while top speed is 190 km/h.

The more powerful BMW i4 M50 has two electric motors, one on the front axle and the other on the rear axle. Combined output stands at 544 PS/795 Nm in Boost mode, allowing the i4 M50 to complete the century sprint in just 3.9 seconds while top speed is 225 km/h.

Both have a floor-mounted battery with a gross capacity of 83.9 kWh (80.7 kWh net), driving range (WLTP) is up to 590 km for the eDrive40 and 510 km for the M50.

AC charging is rated at a maximum of 11 kW, charging from 0 to 100 percent in under 8.5 hours. Meanwhile for DC fast charging, maximum rate is 200 kW, allowing the BMW i4 to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

The BMW i4 eDrive40 goes for RM 389,800 while the i4 M50 retails for RM 430,800.

CAM EC35 - RM 130,000

The CAM EC35 is essentially a rebadged version of the identically-named model from DFSK, with a 80 PS/200 Nm electric motor and a 38.7 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery, giving a WLTP range of 268 km.

It uses the CCS Combo 2 charging port; AC charging is up to 6.6 kW, DC fast charging is rated at up to 40 kW.

Hyundai Kona Electric – RM 156,538 to RM 208,348

The Kona e-Lite and e-Plus have a 39.2-kWh battery with an electric motor that makes 136 PS/395 Nm. Claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time is 9.9 seconds, while top speed is at 155 km/h. Driving range on a WLTP cycle is rated at 305 km.

The range-topping Kona e-Max gets a larger 64-kWh battery and its electric motor churns out a maximum output of 204 PS/395 Nm. It does 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and tops out at 167 km/h. Driving range on a WLTP cycle is rated at 484 km.

Maximum AC charging rates are 7.2 kW for the Lite variant and 11 kW for the Plus and Max variants. As for DC fast charging, it takes about 47 minutes using a 100-kW charger to top off the battery from 10 to 80 percent in the Kona e-Max.

Prices for the Kona Lite, Plus, and Max are RM 156,538, RM 176,838, and RM 208,348 respectively.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 – RM 207,808 to RM 270,408

The Ioniq 5 Lite and Plus variants get a 58 kWh battery with a rear-mounted motor producing 170 PS/350 Nm, while the Max variant gets a bigger 72.6 kWh battery with a motor on each axle (AWD), producing a total of 305 PS/605 Nm.

The Ioniq 5 supports both 400V and 800V DC ultra-fast charging and Hyundai says a 350 kW DC charger top off the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 18 minutes. AC charging is rated at 11 kW.

Prices for the Ioniq 5 Lite, Plus and Max are RM 207,808, RM 238,408, and RM 270,408 respectively.

Kia EV6 – RM 300,668

Kia EV6 packs a 77.4 kWh water-cooled high voltage battery that supplies energy to two electric motors, delivering 325 PS/605 Nm to all four wheels. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 185 km/h.

Like the Ioniq 5, the dual-mode architecture allows it to support up to 350 kW DC fast charging, and accepts up to 11 kW AC charging.

Mazda MX-30 – RM 198,780

The MX-30 has a 35.5 kWh battery that powers a front-mounted electric motor with 145 PS/271 Nm and has a 199 km (WLTP) range. AC charging is rated at 6.6 kW while DC fast charging is up to 40 kW.

Mercedes-Benz EQA – RM 296,888

Only one variant available - the EQA 250 has a 190 PS/370 Nm electric propulsion system that drives the front wheels, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.9 seconds and tops out at 160 km/h. The 66.5 kWh battery gives a WLTP range of up to 429 km.

Maximum AC charging rate is up to 11 kW, which takes about 5 hours and 45 minutes to charge from 10 – 100 percent. Meanwhile, DC fast charging is rated at up to 100 kW, which takes just over 30 minutes to juice up the battery from 10 – 80 percent.

Mercedes-Benz EQB – RM 328,888

The EQB 350 is powered by two electric motors, one on each axle, creating an electric all-wheel drive (AWD) SUV and delivers 292 PS/520 Nm, juiced by a 66.5 kWh battery pack that gives up to a WLTP range of 423 km.

With its CCS2 connector, the EQB supports DC fast charging of up to 100 kW and AC charging of up to 11 kW.

Mercedes-Benz EQC – RM 388,888

The EQC is powered by two electric motors giving it AWD capability with a total output of 408 PS/760 Nm, while an 80 kWh battery pack supplies energy.

The EQC 400 has a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 437 km. AC charging is rated at 11 kW, while DC charging is up to 100 kW.

Mercedes-Benz EQS – RM 698,888

Based on the dedicated Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, the EQS 450+ has a rear-mounted electric motor (RWD) that makes 333 PS/565 Nm, getting the EQS 450+ from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, and tops out at 210 km/h. It has a 107.8 kWh battery that gives a WLTP range of up to 782 km.

The onboard charger allows up to 11 kW AC charging while maximum DC charging is rated at 200 kW, which takes 31 minutes to get from 10 to 80 percent charge.

MINI Electric – RM 191,264

Its front-mounted electric motor is rated at 184 PS/270 Nm, while the 12-module T-shaped battery unit has a net capacity of 28.9kWh. 0-100 km/h is dealt with in 7.3 seconds while top speed is 150 km/h. Driving range on a WLTP cycle is quoted at 232 km.

Charging is done via an 11kW AC charging, DC fast charging can be done at a maximum rate of 50kW.

Nissan Leaf – RM 175,800

The Nissan Leaf has a front-mounted electric motor with 150 PS/320 Nm and a 40 kWh battery pack that gives a claimed range of up to 311 km based on the NEDC cycle.

Unlike most EVs sold here, the Nissan Leaf uses a Type 1 port for AC charging (up to 6.6 kW) and CHAdeMO for DC fast charging (up to 50 kW).

Note that at point of writing, the Nissan Leaf is sold as a subscription-only product, via GoCar Subscription’s GoEV service.

Porsche Taycan – RM 524,000 to RM 966,000

There are two battery sizes available for the Porsche Taycan depending on variant and options, which are the 79.2 kWh single-deck Performance Battery and the 93.4 kWh two-deck Performance Battery Plus.

Below are the reported figures for the Porsche Taycan (Sport Saloon):

  • Taycan RWD – 380 PS / 345 Nm (431 km WLTP range)
  • Taycan 4S – 530 PS / 640 Nm (407 km WLTP range)
  • Taycan GTS – 598 PS / 850 Nm (504 km WLTP range)

Two variants of the Renault Zoe are offered here - Zen R110 and Intens R135, the former has 110 PS/225 Nm front-mounted electric motor while the latter gets a higher output of 135 PS/245 Nm.

Both get a 52 kWh battery pack that allows up to 395 km (WLTP) range in the Zen R110 and 386 km (WLTP) in the Intens R135. It accepts up to 22 kW AC charging and 50 kW DC charging.

The Zen R110 is priced at RM 163,000 while the Intens R135 goes for RM 175,000.

Volvo XC40 EV – RM 278,888

The Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 has a total power output of 408 PS/660 Nm from the dual motors that propels all four wheels (AWD). 0-100 km/h sprint time is rated at 4.9 seconds while top speed is capped at 180 km/h.

Battery capacity is rated at 78 kWh, providing a 418 km range on a WLTP cycle. Charging via the CCS2 connector, the Volvo XC40 Recharge EV accepts up to 11 kW in AC charging and supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging.
