D92A 2023 Toyota Vios' imminent launch in Malaysia confirmed

"An all new version of a best-seller, and other new models coming soon", said by UMWT President Ravindran K., are proof enough that the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios (D92A)'s launch in Malaysia is very soon upon us.

Too speculative it isn't, because piecing it together is easy enough. For one, the Vios has been consistently on UMWT's best-selling list, sharing spots with the Yaris, Corolla Cross, Hilux, and Fortuner; the latter pair being segment sales leaders this year.

And two, there already is an all-new Vios, having made its global debut in Thailand as the Yaris Ativ in August this year. It's already been launched in Laos and Indonesia.

In Thailand, it gets a 1.2-litre engine (to comply with their stringent EcoCar regulations), but in Malaysia a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine as seen in Indonesia is the likelier option. Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) advanced driver aids are present, of which adaptive cruise control (ACC) is part of the kit.

Prices have went up slightly more in Thailand (roughly 2%) and owing to the new bunch of new features, a similar rise can be expected here.

Speaking at a media event in Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening, Ravindran also mentioned that UMWT has sold 90,000 units thus far in 2022.

In terms of "other new models coming soon", there are plenty, as the GR Corolla, GR 86, manual GR Supra, as well as the bZ4X electric (EV) SUV are confirmed to come to Malaysia.
