The Proton X90 appears to be inching closer to the production version as this recent spyshot by Nextrift shows off its ‘Infinite Weave’ grille and judging by the wiper marks on the front windshield, its orientation points to a right-hand drive (RHD) configuration.
In China, it’s powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 184 PS/300 Nm, while other markets like the Philippines and the Middle East get a 1.5-litre three-cylinder.
The three-pot mill is linked to a 48V mild-hybrid system, with outputs of 190 PS/300 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Judging from what we've seen at their new Tanjung Malim engine plant, the Proton X90 is hinted to receive the 1.5-litre three-pot mill, though electrification can happen along the line of the model's lifecycle.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
