As we are about to enter the second month of 2023, most car manufacturers would have already released their sales figures for 2022. Over in our northern neighbour, the Toyota Corolla Cross came out on top once again as Thailand’s best-selling compact SUV in 2022.
This is the third time the Corolla Cross has taken the best-selling title in the segment in Thailand since it debuted back in 2020. In 2022, a total of 20,979 units of the crossover Corolla were sold in the Kingdom according to data obtained by Headlight Magazine.
The fight for the title of Thailand’s best-selling compact SUV is a two-way battle between the Corolla Cross and the Honda HR-V. While there were a few months that saw the HR-V outselling its rival including in December, second place is all that it could muster with 18,005 units sold in 2022.
Outside the top two, the rest of the field couldn’t match in terms of sales figures. In fact, both the Corolla Cross and HR-V hold more than half of the total market share of the compact SUV segment.

Taking third place is the MG ZS with 6,856 units sold. Headlight Magazine’s data combined the sales figures of both petrol-powered and fully electric variants.
Rounding up the top 5 positions are the Mazda CX-30 and Nissan Kicks with 6,092 units and 4,909 units respectively.
Meanwhile, in 12th and essentially last place among the compact SUVs sold in the Kingdom in 2022 is the imported-from-Malaysia Peugeot 2008 with only a mere 239 units sold that year.
