Just moments ago, Toyota debuted the all-new 2023 Toyota Agya in Indonesia. The Toyota Agya, alongside the soon-to-be launched Daihatsu Ayla are the Indonesian twins of our Perodua Axia.

Similar to our D74A Perodua Axia, the all-new Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla are developed on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) and are the smallest models to be developed on that modular platform.

While our D74A Axia is offered with a carried-over naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre 1KR-VE 3-cylinder petrol engine, the Toyota Agya gets a larger 1.2-litre unit instead.

Also new is the transmission, as the Toyota Agya now gets the Dual-mode CVT (D-CVT) just like the rest of its DNGA-based siblings, including the D92A Toyota Vios, Toyota Veloz, and Toyota Raize.

Exterior-wise, the overall silhouette of the Toyota Agya is largely similar to our D74A Axia, albeit with Toyota’s own front fascia grafted on. Instead of the D74A Axia’s X-motif front-end, the Agya gets a large gaping grille, similar to the TNGA-B-based Toyota Yaris.

Stepping inside and the all-new Agya’s interior is nearly a carbon copy of the D74A Axia. Like the D74A Axia, upper variants of the Indonesian-spec Agya get a touchscreen infotainment system, digital air-conditioning controls, as well as audio controls on the steering wheel.

Speaking of steering wheel, from the photos shown during the livestream of the all-new Agya, it appears that upper variants could get steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, similar to their Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky.
