The D74A generation 2023 Perodua Axia is now an automatic transmission-only model. All four variants of the new Axia are powered by the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated 1KR-VE engine paired to a D-CVT automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

As a result, the starting price has also gone up, from the previous generation’s RM 24,090 for the 1.0E MT, to RM 38,600 for the new generation Axia 1.0G.

Prices of the 2023 Perodua Axia are as below:

• Axia 1.0 G: RM 38,600
• Axia 1.0 X: RM 40,000
• Axia 1.0 SE: RM 44,000
• Axia 1.0 AV: RM 49,500

However, Perodua has since confirmed that it will continue producing the old Axia 1.0E MT, and that it will be sold alongside the new model.

The company also hinted that there will be some updates to the base Axia 1.0E MT, details to be announced later.

Although the Axia 1.0E MT is best known among Malaysians as the ‘driving school’ Axia, Perodua says driving schools are not the biggest buyers of the manual transmission Axia. Instead, private buyers in rural areas form the bulk of buyers for this variant, so don’t expect to see one at your local showroom though, especially if you live in the city.

As there will be updates to the new 'old' Axia, prices could be revised too. Details will be announced in the coming months.
