Mitsubishi Triton ranked as Thailand's best-quality truck in survey, edges past Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger

Market research agency J.D. Power has released the findings of its 2022 Thailand Initial Quality Study (IQS), and the Mitsubishi Triton ranks highest in the pick-up double cab segment.

The Triton scored 122 PP100, edging past the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross (127 PP100) and the Ford Ranger Hi-Rider (132 PP100). The industry average is 131 PP100.

Initial quality is measured by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first six months of ownership, with a lower score reflecting higher quality.

Conducted from May through September 2022, the J.D. Power 2022 Thailand Initial Quality Study (IQS) is based on responses from 5,419 new vehicle owners, with studies conducted between May to September 2022.

The study measures problems users experience in design-related issues, as well as in defects and malfunctions.

Eight categories were covered: exterior; driving experience; features/ controls/ displays; seats; audio/ communication/ entertainment/ navigation; heating/ ventilation/ air conditioning; interior; and engine/ transmission.

According to the study, the industry performance improved in 2022 to 130 PP100 (from 141 PP100 in 2021). A key contributor to that are the fixes of 2021's most-commonly cited minor issues: insufficient power plugs/USB ports, and mats not staying in place.

The Mitsubishi Triton as we know it however is heading into the twilight of its generation – an all-new model is due to be announced soon.
