This concept previews the all-new 2023 Mitsubishi Triton, to debut in July with new engines

Thailand is home to Mitsubishi’s all-conquering pick-up truck, the Mitsubishi Triton. The current generation is exported to about 150 countries around the world including Malaysia but after 9 years, an all-new sixth generation will be introduced soon.

For now, though, Mitsubishi Motors has just unveiled the Mitsubishi XRT Concept at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2023. Even though it has a different name, this is essentially a preview of what the production version of the all-new 2023 Mitsubishi Triton will look like.

Inspired by the sharp gaze of a hawk, the eventual all-new Triton has a fierce expression on the front and a robust hood that continues to the side with a bold, horizontally-themed style.

While the aggressive look of the outgoing Triton remains on the next generation, the all-new Triton will be built on an all-new platform as evidenced by the lack of the J-line between the cab and the bed.

The concept truck is fitted with front and rear over-fenders along with mud-terrain tyres. Meanwhile, the body is covered in a camouflaged design inspired by lava rocks and is adorned with a 10-parallel line RalliArt brand graphic.

President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, Takao Kato said that the all-new Triton is going through final touch-ups in preparation for its release by performing “rigorous endurance tests around the world while also incorporating the know-how gained from rally activities.”

The all-new Triton will be powered by a set of new engines though more details on the performance will only be revealed during its unveiling. Besides, the sixth-gen Triton will also be offered as an EV as Mitsubishi is committed towards electrified vehicles.
