Chinese electric vehicle (EV) carmaker Neta, a brand under Hozon Auto, has further signalled their intentions to enter the Malaysian market with their new website and social media pages.

We first heard of their plans back in August 2022 during their brand unveiling in Thailand. Since then, the brand has also entered Vietnam.

Despite having three main models in China (Neta S, the Neta U-II, the Neta V), only the latter is sold to our northern neighbours, and it seems like we'll be following a similar arrangement: all social media and website materials for Malaysia currently just showcase the Neta V.

As of now, information is still pretty sparse. There are no statements yet on who's the brand distributor for Malaysia at the moment.

Neta V

It's a curious little thing. Obviously it's all electric, and in the Thailand market it has a 38.5 kWh lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery that powers a 95 PS/150 Nm electric motor situated on the front axle.

Range is pegged at 384 km per the NEDC (WLTP figures are not available), with a top speed of 101 km/h. 0-50 km/h comes in 3.9 seconds.

Charging is via 6.6 kW AC charging (8 hours to full), while a 100 kW DC fast charging gets the battery from 30% to 80% in just half an hour. Impressively it's also got a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that can transmit up to 3.3 kW of power.

It's also somewhat larger than a Myvi, measuring 4,070 mm long, 1,690 mm wide, and 1,540 mm tall, resting on a 2,420 mm wheelbase. The Myvi is about 3,895 mm long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall, sitting on a 2,500 mm wheelbase.

There's halogen projectors, LED daytime running lights, LED combination tail lights, and 16-inch wheels on the outside. Inside there's a 12-inch digital instrument panel, a portrait-style 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, and synthethic leather upholstery.
