Mitsubishi Triton is Malaysia's 2nd best-selling pick-up in 2022, Xpander remains most popular non-local MPV

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has reported a 27% increase in vehicle sales in its 2022 financial year (April 2022 - March 2023) compared to the previous year, with 24,315 units sold. It also holds a market share of 3.2%.

The company's high sales achievement is the highest since its inception in 2005 and has enabled the Three Diamonds to maintain the top three position in the non-national automotive sales table.

MMM's most popular model is the Mitsubishi Xpander, which sold 13,794 units and contributed 57% of the companyโ€™s overall sales. The 7-seater crossover MPVโ€™s sales also saw a growth of 52.2% compared to the year before. It is also Malaysia's best-selling non-national MPV, a title it kept from the previous year.

The Mitsubishi Triton also performed well with 10,520 units sold in 2022 and holds an 18% market share. Sales of the Triton grew 12% compared to last year and it is also the second best-selling pick-up truck in Malaysia.

MMM CEO Shinya Ikeda said both models were the catalysts for the company's sales growth and that it would continue to focus on improving the customer experience.

โ€œThe Triton and Xpander have been a catalyst for our sales growth in FY22. In ending a successful financial year, we will continue to focus on improving customer purchase and service experience to meet the evolving needs of our customers, assuring a seamless experience,โ€ he said.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) recently premiered the Mitsubishi XRT concept car at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show which previews the all-new Triton. Meanwhile, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart also plans to compete with a prototype cross-country model of the all-new Triton in the upcoming Asia Cross Country Rally 2023.
