Besides the range-topping Rogue, the rest of the lineup are also facelifted. Hold on to your sports bars, we're going in!
The front fascia drops its 'smiley-face' for a moustachio'd angry grimace. Gone are soft curves, with sharp lines taking their place. Along with a new front bumper, grille and foglamp bezels, there's new headlights too.
As for the headlights, they look sharper and more upmarket now thanks to remodelled housings with neat details, such as the 'Hilux' badging inside.
Bi-beam LED headlights are reserved to the higher-end 2.4 V and 2.8 Rogue variants, while 2.4 E and G specs come with halogens.
Round the back, the changes are simpler, with a pair of new LED-combination tail lights.
The Hilux now roll on redesigned wheels with new colours, and speaking of colours...
...there's seven now to choose from, with Bronze Mica Metallic being a new selection.
The interior gets a splash of metallic trim colouring and choices of different seat materials. They're fabric for the 2.4 E and G variants, while the higher-end 2.4 V and 2.8 Rogue get leather units.
The instrument cluster gets a refresh too, courtesy of neater dials and pointers and a new multi-info display bezel.
We'll get to the 2.8-litre engine later, but for the rest of the range, the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV mill also get updates. Output is unchanged at 150 PS and 400 Nm, but there's a claimed 5 percent improvement in fuel economy.
That's due to increased pressure in the commonrail system (250 MPa now, up from 225 MPa). The refined engines allows for longer service intervals - 10,000 km/6 months now, up from 5,000 km/3 months previously.
Meanwhile, optimisations to the cabin mounts and shock absorbers are claimed to promote a comfier drive.
Powered with a 2.8-litre turbodiesel making 204 PS and 500 Nm, the Hilux Rogue is the range's top-dog.
It's actually the same 1GD-FTV engine found in the pre-facelift's Black Edition, but with modifications to the turbo's cooling system and fuel rail pressure - hence the 27 PS and 50 Nm bump (up from 177 PS and 450 Nm).
More than just a power hike, there's a claimed 4 percent improvement in fuel efficiency too.
Alongside newfound power and a smattering of aesthetic kits, the Rogue gets the Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert with yaw assist and blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert (BSM, RCTA)
The Rogue gets 7 airbags, alongside other features such as a drive mode selector (eco or power), new variable flow control steering and auto limited-slip differential.
We've already took it for a spin through highways and twisties just a couple of days ago, and you can read what we think about the Rogue here.
