Kia is serious about going upmarket and the all-new 2020 Kia Sorento is a testament to that statement. It’s got a bold exterior design, luxurious with more tech than your smartphone.

The Kia Sorento wears the Korean carmaker’s ‘refined boldness’ design language that was first seen in the Kia Seltos – which is coming to Malaysia soon.

Gone is the rounded look of the previous generation Sorentos, replaced by strong lines and vertical design elements inspired by Kia’s massive US-only Telluride. It may not look like a friendly, family SUV anymore but I can guarantee it’s a sight to behold in the metal.

Kia did not disclose the proportions of the new-generation Sorento but did hint it would have a longer wheelbase which may or may not translate to a more spacious cabin.

Speaking of the cabin, notwithstanding the scarce details, we can tell it’s going to be a tech fest. The centre dashboard is dominated by a large freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while all driving data is shown on a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display.

Other interesting bits we can identify are the rotary knob electric gear selector, ambient lighting coverage on the door handles as well as Kia’s latest suite of Advanced Driver Assistance System.

The all-new fourth-generation Kia Sorento is radically styled and packed with the latest gizmos from Kia. While I’m a big fan of how the rear end looks, I’m not too sure those shopping for a 7-seater family SUV would like to be seen in something this outlandish.
