BMW X6 M front

In an era when SUVs are booming and cars’ performances are continuously rising, BMW M GmbH has unveiled the third generation BMW X6 M and X6 M Competition.

Under the bonnet of the BMW X6 M sits the latest iteration of the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8, also found in the F90 BMW M5, producing 600 PS and 750 Nm of torque. And if that isn't enough for you, the Competition model takes the output to 625 PS while torque is maintained at 750 Nm.

All of that power goes through an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, which is distributed to all four wheels via the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.9 seconds or 3.8 seconds for the Competition model.

Stopping power comes from six-piston calipers and drilled, inner-vented brake discs with a diameter of 395 millimetres at the front wheels, and single-piston floating callipers and 380-millimetre discs at the rear.

Suspension is revised with M-specific suspension and active roll stabilisation. The driver can alter the damping characteristics at the press of a button from Comfort to Sport as well as Sport Plus.

BMW X6 M wheel

The X6 M wears the 21-inch M light-alloy wheels with tyres measuring 295/35 R 21 at the front and 315/35 R21 at the rear. The Competition model gets 21-inch wheels at the front and 22-inch wheels at the rear with tyres measuring 315/30 R22.

BMW X6 M interior

Inside, the X6 M gets the Head-Up Display with M-specific readouts fitted as standard and a pair of red M buttons on the steering wheel, which both can be individually set up to the driver’s preferences. Standard specification also includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and the Parking Assistant.

The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
