Bermaz Auto has quietly discontinued the Mid Spec Mazda 2 Hatchback and Sedan in Malaysia, just shy of 2 years since the model was launched here.
We understand that Bermaz decided to discontinue the Mid Spec variants is due to the impending price hike for fully imported (CBU) cars that is set to happen in June 2020, as all variants of the Mazda 2 are imported from Thailand.

The price hike would mean that the Mid Spec Mazda 2 would be priced too high in the already price-sensitive B-segment market.
At the moment, these are the Mazda 2 variants left on sale:
- Mazda 2 Sedan: RM 94,670
- Mazda 2 Hatchback: RM 94,670
- Mazda 2 Sedan (Soul Red Crystal): RM 95,170
- Mazda 2 Hatchback (Soul Red Crystal): RM 95,170
Come June 2020, prices of the regular Mazda 2 variants could likely touch, if not breach the RM 100k mark.
