Suzuki has just launched the new 2021 Swift facelift in Japan, which adds a number of new features to the popular B-segment hatchback.

As reported earlier, the updated Swift gets a very mild exterior update, limited to the new front grille, new wheels, as well as the option for a new two-tone black/silver roof. Flame Orange Peal Metallic is a new body colour available on all variants of the new Swift.

Starting with the new Swift’s safety features, all variants receive an enhanced Suzuki Safety Support ADAS suite, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control (previously available as an option on selected variants), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). This is on top of the Swift’s existing features, including High Beam Assist and Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS).

Optionally, the Swift can be had with a 360-degree view monitor.

Inside, all variants of the new Swift get 6 speakers as standard, as well as the inclusion of a digital speedometer in the multi-info display. All variants of the new Swift also receive automatic headlights as standard.

While the safety and exterior of the Swift have been updated, powertrain options remain the same. As such, the new Swift soldiers on with two petrol engines, one mild hybrid, and one petrol-electric hybrid.

As for the Swift Sport, the biggest improvement is the addition of the enhanced Suzuki Safety Support ADAS suite. Also, the updated Japanese market Swift Sport will continue to feature the same 1.4-litre turbocharged K14C engine (140 PS, 230 Nm) and not the 48V mild hybrid version found on the European market Swift Sport.

Although Suzuki exited the Malaysian market in 2016, rumours are circulating that the company could return to Malaysia under the Naza Group of Companies and the new Swift looks to be a good alternative to the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris.
