Proton had always been known for its saloon cars that were popular with Malaysian families. The Proton Saga, Wira, Waja, Perdana, and Preve are some to name. The most ambitious of them all would have been the Proton Preve, claimed as Proton’s first global car.

Under the Proton-Geely partnership, several future model names have been registered. Including the X50 and X70, several other names have been registered too like the C50 and S50. The C50 is probably reserved for a hatchback model while the S50 could be reserved for a sedan model.

Having turned pretty much every Geely car into a Proton-ized render, Theophilus Chin has decided to reimagine the Proton Preve / Proton Waja, bearing the name “Proton S50”. And we have to say, it looks very much like the Geely Binrui.

Both the Proton Waja and Proton Preve were ambitious C-segment saloons that have been discontinued with no spiritual successor. With the S50 name trademarked, a new C-segment saloon by Proton might just become a reality.

The render is actually based on a sedan Ford Focus with the front end of the Proton X50, and doesn’t defer much from the earlier Proton Suprima S render.

With the Ford Focus being the base of the render, an actual C-segment saloon by Proton would look totally different from these renders. 

A new sedan that we could expect from Proton this year is a facelifted Proton Persona alongside the facelifted Proton Iriz.
