Mazda’s first ever electric vehicle (EV), the Mazda MX-30 has purportedly landed in Malaysia.

As mentioned earlier, the Mazda MX-30 is the Hiroshima-based company’s first-ever EV. It gets an electric motor that does 145 PS and 271 Nm, juiced by a 35.5 kWh battery pack. Under the WLTP test cycle, it can offer a range of up to 209 km.

It takes between 30 to 40 minutes to charge from 0% to 80% using a 50 kW DC charger. If charged using a 6.6 kW AC charger, it takes 4.5 hours to fully charge the MX-30.

The Mazda MX-30 is currently only available as a full EV; there will be rotary engine-based range extender variant but this has to be launched. 

If it looks familiar, that’s because the MX-30 shares a lot of its structural bits with the regular petrol Mazda CX-30, with the exception of the rear suicide doors – which are unique to the MX-30.

When will the Mazda MX-30 launch in Malaysia?

At this point of time, it’s too early to jump to conclusions. This particular MX-30 is an internal unit used for internal studies. Just because there’s an MX-30 in Malaysia, it does not necessarily mean that the model will be launched here.
