At the launch of the Volkswagen Das WeltAuto Pre-Owned Car Division and VolksFest 2019, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has also displayed the all-new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line. The company’s latest offering to the Malaysian market.
This is merely a public preview but interested parties can place their orders for one at any Volkswagen dealership nationwide. The Arteon replaces the Volkswagen CC that was well-received among Malaysians. But unlike its predecessor which is essentially a Passat with a sloping roofline, the Arteon has a more distinctive styling and upmarket feel.

The improved aesthetics do eat into practicality but only ever so slightly. Malaysian market will receive the 2.0 TSI 4MOTION R-Line variant which packs an EA888 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder TSI petrol engine with 280 PS and 350 Nm on tap. Also standard on the Arteon are the 7-speed DSG wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive.
Launching the Arteon from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.6 seconds – quicker than a Mercedes-Benz C 300 and a BMW 330i. On full whack, the Arteon’s speedometer will read 250 km/h.
No word on the official pricing yet, but VPCM estimates the fully imported Volkswagen Arteon 2.0 TSI 4MOTION R-Line will be priced between RM 290,000 to RM 310,000.
