The JNCAP has rated the Toyota Raize’s rigid DNGA platform with 5 stars in the collision safety performance evaluation. The Raize managed to achieve the top rank even though JNCAP has revised their collision safety performance evaluation criteria.

The new Raize is the first compact car built on Daihatsu’s DNGA platform. Daihatsu and Toyota created the platform with a goal of providing car passengers with the best driving performance, luxury, safety, and peace of mind.

Daihatsu has certainly achieved the “safety” and “peace of mind” part of their goals, as the Raize’s latest collision safety body and occupant restraint system demonstrated at the JNCAP’s strict evaluation.

The collision safety performance evaluation criteria at the JNCAP was revised in 2019 to reflect the conditions of Japan’s aging population. JNCAP even adopted new crash test dummies that more accurately represents the human body to do better evaluate cars.

Perodua already has plans to start producing the Toyota Raize/ Daihatsu Rocky in Malaysia. If all goes to plans, the SUV, codenamed D55L, will make its debut end 2020 but with the current pandemic situation we might only see its introduction early 2021.
