The new 2020 G30 BMW 5 Series facelift isn’t exactly a very new car. We covered the launch of the refreshed executive sedan back in May and even did a comparison with the pre-facelift model.
BMW has released more images of the G30 facelift with the 530e Sedan and the 540i xDrive Sedan.
As we had mentioned during its launch, the G30 5 Series will expand its plug-in hybrid variants which now includes 5 models which are the 530e Sedan, 530e xDrive Sedan, 530e Touring, 530e xDrive Touring, and 545e xDrive Sedan.
Across the 530e range, power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 184 PS and 300 Nm. Meanwhile, the electric motor produces 109 PS and 265 Nm, giving the combined system output to 292 PS and 420 Nm.
As for the 540i xDrive, it’s powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 petrol that produces 333 PS and 450 Nm. As this is the subtle but still quick variant of the 5 Series, it goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h.
Deliveries of the 5 Series have already commenced in some markets. Malaysia is expected to have the facelift to debut here sometime in 2021.
In the meantime, if you want to experience the latest in BMW’s hybrid tech a lot sooner, perhaps the upcoming 330e might entice you.
